Lead Photographer
Hello, my name is Kristlyn and I am the creator of Kristlyn Marie Photography. I am happily married to my husband Aaron of almost 4 years and we have 2 lovely fur-babies.
We decided to plant our roots in Pittsfield and purchased a cute little home nestled in beside the luscious greens of a golf course. Its a quiet neighborhood, but that's the way we like it.
Photography has always been something that I enjoy and have done it a lot during my spare time.
It has taken encouragement from my husband, family and friends to go further and here we are today.
Photos are a heirloom that can be passed down from generation, to generation, so I understand the importance of each moment and photo captured.
I hope I get a chance to meet you and capture your precious family heirlooms for generations to come.
Photographer/Stagehand
Hey, my name is Aaron and as you can see, Kristlyn is my lovely wife. I won't repeat what she said in the paragraph before, so I will just say "Ditto."
During your photo session with us, you may see me, or you may not see me. Depends on what time of year and season it is. I will probably be in my tree stand hunting or on the greens golfing. If I do see you, than I am more or less the heavy lifter, but I also come up with some great out of the box ideas for families and definitely make it fun for all.
I hope we get a chance to meet you and your family. You definitely won't be disappointed.
what not to wear to a photo session
TIPS ON "WHAT NOT TO WEAR" WHEN PREPARING FOR YOUR PHOTO SHOOT
I understand that a lot goes into getting ready for a family photo session. The first question above anything else is "What should we wear?"
Of course here are some trips out there-
HOWEVER, I FIGURED I WOULD TOUCH ON THE POINTS OF WHAT NOT TO WEAR INSTEAD.
Many of the locations are in fields, parks and tree farms, where the ground is not level. I want you to have the freedom.
Forego the wedges and go for something cute and comfortable.
2. AVOID LARGE PATTERNS! LARGE PATTERNS CAN OVERWHELM AN IMAGE AND I PROMISE YOU, YOU WANT THE FOCUS TO BE ON THE FACES.
Smaller patterns are great and can really pull a family outfit together. Layers, texture and neutrals are much more pleasing to the eye and they create a warmer image.
3. AVOID HEADBANDS AND LARGE BOWS FOR SMALL CHILDREN! I KNOW THAT THEY ARE CUTE, BUT WHATEVER THE AGE OF THE CHILD THEY TEND TO SLIDE DOWN.
Remember we will be playing, tickling and cuddling. I'm sure you'll grow tired of adjusting the headband. If your child's hair needs to be pulled back, choose an elastic band instead.
4. DON'T WEAR NEON OR BRIGHT COLORS! THOSE COLORS CAN CAST ONTO THE SKIN.
I'm not saying that I don't love a little pop of color, because I definitely do. However, muted colors and earth tones look better on camera and are more flattering for skin tones. Of course we don't want to the attention drawn to some bright piece's of clothing.
5. DON'T WEAR BASEBALL HATSOR FLOPPY HATS THAT COVER YOUR EYES!
I understand if that is your style, but choose an alternate (like a beanie) that allows the light to fall on your face. And bring the baseball hat for a few shots at the end.
6. DON'T HAVE YOUR CELL PHONE AND KEYS IN YOUR POCKETS! I GET IT, WE ALL CARRY OUR PHONES WITH US.
But consider leaving it in the car. It will show through your pants and you'll have to remove it each time you sit down. Leave your key filled key chain in the car for the same reason.
Instead, just carry the fob, or I'll be happy to throw them in my bag during our shoot.

7. DON'T FORGET THE BIKE SHORTS OR DIAPER COVER!
If your daughter is wearing a skirt or dress, make sure to cover up the diaper or underwear. Remember, you will be playing, tickling and swinging.
8. DON'T WEAR SHIRTS WITH GRAPHICS OR SAYING.
I understand if that is your style, but choosing a solid neutral color is something that will just perfect that photo a little more.
9. AND LASTLY, DON'T BE SOMEONE YOU'RE NOT!
You will look and feel uncomfortable if you aren't dressing for yourselves. Wear what speaks to you, and what you feel good in and what makes you comfortable. After all, this is YOUR photoshoot, have fun with it!
